What is GDPR?
GDPR is a new law that determines how your personal data is processed, kept safe and the legal rights that you have in relation to your own data. The regulation applies from 25 May 2018. GDPR will supersede the Data Protection Act 1998 which the practice already complies with but strengthens many of it’s principle.
You can find more information on the further information tab under the heading 'GDPR'. We have all of this information displayed in the patient notice board in the practice. If you have any questions then please speak to the Practice Manager.
New Physiotherapist service - We now have two Specialist Physiotherapists based at Pathhead Medical Centre. They can be booked as an alternative to an appointment with the GP, for people with a muscle, bone or joint problem. There is no need to see the GP first.
Contact reception and they will ask you a few questions to make sure you are allocated an appointment with the most appropriate person.
MEDICATION IMPROVEMENTS - the practice is now running some prescribing improvement projects to ensure that you receive the safest and most cost-effective medications for your conditions. You will receive a letter directly if you are affected by any of these changes.
PRESCRIPTION CHANGES FROM APRIL 2017 - all prescription requests will now take 4 working days to process. Any urgent requests must go to the duty doctor.
Changes to ordering a prescription
Due to an increase in the patient list size the practice is now required to make some changes to current processes to cope with the demand. From Tuesday 18th April 2017 the below changes will take place for all patients regarding prescriptions.
Ordering your prescription
The dispensary prescription order e-mail will stop working from Friday 28th May 2017. You have the below options to order your prescription going forward.
-Select order your prescription online
-Select to register
-Enter your details and follow the instructions
-Remember to check your junk e-mail if you do not receive your registration e-mail.
A repeat prescription is an item that you get regularly. If you wish to order a repeat prescription then ask the receptionist to print you out a re-order form. This form will show you exactly what medication is on your file as a repeat item. If the item is not showing on your repeat list then this item will then be a ‘Special Request’.
Special Request Prescriptions
A special request item is something that is not currently showing on your repeat list. This is maybe a medication you had some time ago. Or even a medication that you get regularly that has not been added to your repeat list. Please complete a ‘Special Request’ form for any of these types of medications that your require.
Collecting your prescription
The time scale to collect your prescription will change from Monday 3rd April 2017. You must allow 4 working days. If you require medication please ensure to request it using the above options in plenty of time before your medication runs out. It is the patient’s responsibility to ensure they have enough medication and place an order in plenty of time. If you need something urgently and you cannot wait the reception team will contact the GP.
Collecting your prescription from the pharmacy
When the GP has signed your prescription the pharmacy will come to the practice to collect this. (If this is an option you have signed up for) It is then your responsibility when collecting your medication to ensure you have collected all of the items that you require. The items will not always be in the same bag so please remember to check with the pharmacist. If you have any items missing then you must call the pharmacy directly.
Please Note Pathhead Pharmacy opening times are 9am-1pm & 2pm-6pm Mon to Fri & 9am-1pm Saturdays. Other Pharmacies opening times may differ
Patients on repeat medication will be asked to see a doctor or practice nurse at least once a year to review these regular medications and notification should appear on your repeat slip. Please ensure that you book an appropriate appointment to avoid unnecessary delays to further prescriptions.
